Safety
What the safety check does, and what it does not
Safety is the part of aromatherapy practice that is easiest to forget. Aromemor turns the common contraindications and dilution ceilings into rules you can actually check, and draws the platform's limits in the same place.
What the safety check covers
- Oils contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Age-related restrictions and dilution ranges for infants and children
- Cautions relating to asthma and the respiratory system
- Cautions relating to epilepsy and other neurological conditions
- Oils that need care when pets share the home
- Known allergies, including essential oils and botanical families
- Photosensitive oils and the required gap before sun or UV exposure
- Skin sensitisation and patch-test guidance
- Whether a dilution exceeds the recommended ceiling
Rules first, SI after
The check decides by rules first, and SI (artificial intelligence AI) only supplies the surrounding wording. When a dilution exceeds its ceiling, the interface marks it in red and blocks saving, and SI cannot override that.
Put another way, the safety verdict is never left to a guess.
The safety check is a checking aid and does not replace professional judgement. The final decision remains with the user or their practitioner.
What the platform will not do
- It will not diagnose, or suggest how to treat, cure or prevent any condition.
- It will not suggest using essential oils instead of medication or medical care.
- It will not publish percentage claims or guarantees that are not backed by clinical data.
- It will not claim that the platform or any oil is medically certified.
- It will not present SI output without its disclaimer.
This platform is not a medical device and nothing on it is professional medical advice. For an acute problem or an emergency, contact medical services immediately.
Dilution reference
The chart below comes from the aromatherapy reference material inside the app. Treat it as something to calculate and check against, and keep the client's age, skin type, application site and health background in view at the same time.
| Dilution | 10 ml | 20 ml | 30 ml | 60 ml |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5% | 1 drop | 3 drops | 4 drops | 8 drops |
| 1% | 3 drops | 6 drops | 9 drops | 18 drops |
| 2% | 6 drops | 12 drops | 18 drops | 36 drops |
| 3% | 9 drops | 18 drops | 27 drops | 54 drops |
| 4% | 12 drops | 24 drops | 36 drops | 72 drops |
| 5% | 15 drops | 30 drops | 45 drops | 90 drops |
Age and recommended dilution
| Age group | Recommended dilution |
|---|---|
| 0 – 3 months | 0.2% or less |
| 3 – 24 months | 0.25% – 0.5% |
| 2 – 6 years | 1% – 2% |
| 6 – 15 years | 1.5% – 3% |
| Adults | 2% – 5% |
These ranges are general reference points. Individual oils carry stricter ceilings of their own. Before use, consult a doctor, pharmacist or qualified aromatherapist.
How data is handled
Client records stay separate per practice, so only members of that practice can read them. Health-adjacent fields are handled on a minimisation basis, and account deletion and data export are both provided.
Journal entries in enthusiast mode have an encryption option for the more private notes.
Frequently asked questions
Is Aromemor's safety check the same as medical advice?
No. It is a rule-based checking aid that reduces the chance of missing something. It does not replace professional judgement and it is not medical advice.
What if a client is taking medication?
The client record has a field for current medications. The system flags known interaction risks, but you should still review, and consult a healthcare professional when in doubt.
Are essential oils safe around cats and dogs?
Some oils carry risk for pets, and cats in particular metabolise them differently. The platform flags oils that need care. Keep the room ventilated, let the animal leave the space, and consult a vet when needed.
Is the platform a medical device?
No. Aromemor is a record-keeping and formula-management tool. It is not a medical device and holds no medical device certification.
